Where I grew up

A summer morning on a beach very near where I grew up.  The province is Taranaki – West Coast Central North Island of New Zealand.  To your right is the spine of a volcano – Paritutu. And on your left a series of small islands affectionately known as the Sugar Lumps. At low tide you can walk to them. The sand is black and hot on bare feet when traversed.  This beach is in my heart.
